Seniors battle to pay for their healthcare requires​

November 17, 2022 : More than a third of senior Americans are anxious about affording their medication in the future (34%), as per a recent poll.

The survey of 2,000 seniors consisting of 64 and older ages delved into the topic of affording specific aspects of their healthcare and discovered that, similarly, 35% have cut down on expenses in other areas of their life to have enough money to afford their healthcare requirements.

To spend for their healthcare, one in five respondents stated they’ve cut down on paying for necessities like mortgage or rent payments (19%) and food (20%) to pay for medical expenses.

The poll, run by OnePoll for ClearMatch™ Medicare, discovered that three in four seniors labor to afford certain areas of their healthcare at least some of the duration, and 38% agree that healthcare is more costly now than they remember it ever being.

Almost every senior polled (96%) already takes medication, with the moderate respondent taking six per week.

And it does not stop there – 47% anticipate needing more prescribed medications as they get more aged, which may be why almost a sixth of respondents think it’s essential to save up their money to help afford their medicines.

When it comes to other elements of healthcare, just three in 10 seniors will rate the availability and price (31%) of primary doctors near them as “satisfactory” or “excellent.”

Nearly a fifth of all respondents also stated the availability (18%) and price (20%) of prescribed presprictions near them are only “fair” or “poor.”

Getting enough financial support would reduce respondents’ healthcare issues, with seniors sharing that good healthcare would permit them to have more money to spend on relaxing activities (61%) or be stress-free about visitng the doctor (60%).

“Finding a Medicare program that is in your budget and able to care for your health insurance needs is significant in today’s economy,” expresses CEO Ben Pajak of ClearMatch Medicare (a part of HealthPlanOne). “The good report is that there are several Medicare Advantage plans that provides convenient coverage, multiple program options and have no premiums as well as less or no deductibles, that most people can find a plan that fits their requirements.”

On average, those with Medicare or health insurance said their plan takes care of 41% of their medications; nevertheless, a quarter of respondents with insurance admit they do not have a great understanding of details about what their plan covers (24%). Forty-five percent of all seniors do not feel like they have enough knowledge about the various options available to help them pay for healthcare charges, despite 61% claiming that they regularly keep up with healthcare news.

Regarding looking ahead, just 33% know that healthcare will become more affordable for everyone, with 40% looking for prescribed medications to be accessible for older people.
