Hispanic Federation Organizes ¡Vive Tu Vida! Get Up! Get Moving!® Health and Wellness Fair in New York

June 2, 2023 : The Hispanic Federation, National Alliance for Hispanic Health, and Healthy Americas Foundation are teaming up to host the ¡Vive tu vida! Get Up! Get Moving!® health and wellness fair, a popular event that promotes physical activity and a healthy lifestyle for people of all ages and sizes. This year marks the 17th anniversary of the event, which has become the premier annual Hispanic family event of its kind in the United States. The Siemens Foundation is proudly sponsoring the 2023 event series on a national level.

The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the existing health disparities faced by Latino communities for many years. Access to healthcare coverage and resources remains a challenge for our community nationwide. That’s why the GetUp! Get Moving! The event holds such significance. By offering free culturally competent healthcare resources, we aim to protect and improve the well-being of everyone. Hispanic Federation President and CEO Frankie Miranda expressed gratitude to the event partners and urged all residents of New York to attend and spread the word about this important initiative.

Families attending the fair can look forward to a day filled with fun activities, including live music, physical activities suitable for people of all ages, sizes, and abilities, a dance competition, and free produce giveaways. Additionally, free health screenings, COVID-19 tests, vaccines, boosters, and referrals to community health services will be available.

Furthermore, families will have the opportunity to learn about and participate in the All of Us Research Program. This groundbreaking initiative aims to collect data from one million or more individuals residing in the United States, accelerating research and improving health outcomes. The New York event coincides with the recent 5th anniversary of the program’s launch. Attendees will have the chance to engage directly with partners of the All of Us Research Program from across New York and become part of the more than 600,000 individuals who have already joined.

Dave Pacitti, President of Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc., Head of the Americas at Siemens Healthineers, and member of the Siemens Foundation Board of Directors, emphasized the importance of a multifaceted approach to reducing health disparities. He expressed his organization’s commitment to supporting the local health fair participants as part of their efforts to advance health equity through primary healthcare promotion, diagnostic screening, workforce training for the healthcare sector, and capital loan support for community clinics. David Etzwiler, CEO of the Siemens Foundation, expressed his excitement in supporting the ¡Vive tu vida! Get Up! Get Moving!® event in New York City.

Dr. Jane Delgado, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health, the leading Hispanic health advocacy group in the nation, expressed her gratitude for the collaboration with partners and the dedication of volunteers. She highlighted the event’s aim to provide family-friendly activities, access to health screenings, and valuable information on maintaining good health and well-being.
